Insuring our personal belongings is common-place, as we recognise that our possessions may be sentimental or valuable. When moving your effects internationally, this gains even more importance. Travelling in a variety of ways, it is vital to ensure your effects are protected over long distances.
At Galleon International, we take every precaution, in our careful packing and handling of your effects. Our intent is always to protect your goods, during the course of the move, either in transit or whilst it is in storage. Be mindful, that despite the care we apply at origin and professional procedures we adhere to, we cannot protect against every eventuality.
We wish to give you the confidence and peace of mind that your household effects are protected against loss or damage, by providing you choice of insurance cover that is most suited to you.
Lump Sum
This option establishes an average value per cubic feet/metre. The value is calculated on the actual volume of household goods you are moving.
The premium will need to be recalculated if the actual volume at time of collection differs from that initially estimated, and further payment will then be required.
For road, sea and storage shipments, the value is calculated at an average rate per cubic foot, plus any individual items, pairs, sets or collections noted at ‘high value’, (**) which must be itemised separately and then added to calculate a grand total.
(**) Please Note: values differ in accordance to country currencies.
Itemised Valued Inventory
This option is more specific, whereby you complete an insurance declaration form, itemising the effects to be moved by freight, and their respective replacement value at destination.
Irrespective of which cover you select, any item of ‘high value’ should be listed on the separate inventory. It is a documented record to indicate that specialised packing and/or internal crates have been customised to protect in transit.
