    Corporate and Social Responsibility

It should be noted that in the UK, significant legislation is in force which requires, in the widest possible sense, for Health and Safety programmes to be in place.  In addition, National legislation and local Landlords’ requirements regulate the manner in which the Company operates as a “Good Neighbour”.

The manner in which the Company regards these responsibilities (and indeed all of its activities) is reviewed during external assessments leading to the obtainment and retention of our ISO Standards qualification.

  • Anti-Bribery Legislation

    Anti-Bribery Legislation

The UK has adopted an Anti-Bribery legislation under the Bribery Act 2010.  Along with all businesses in the UK, Galleon International is required to comply with the regulations included therein.  Galleon International is committed to operating responsibly wherever we work in the World, pro-actively engaging with our Partners, Suppliers and Clients to manage the social, environmental and ethical impact of our activities.

The Company does not engage in Bribery or any form of unethical inducement or payment including facilitation payments and ‘kickbacks.’ All employees are required to avoid any activities that might lead to, or suggest, a conflict of interest with the business of the Company. Employees must declare and keep a record of hospitality or gifts accepted or offered, which will be subject to managerial review. We do not make direct or indirect contributions to Political Parties.

We will uphold laws relevant to countering Bribery and Corruption in all the jurisdictions in which we operate, particularly laws that are directly relevant to specific business practices.

We communicate this policy and relevant guidance to Galleon International employees through our established internal communication channels. Employees are encouraged to raise concerns about any instance of malpractice at the earliest possible stage. We also communicate this policy to our commercial Suppliers, Partners and Clients as required.

    Business Continuity Programme

Galleon International’s standards, procedures and guidelines are documented as part of our ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Accreditation Assessment.

All electronic information must be copied onto secure storage media on a regular basis (i.e., backed up), for the purpose of Disaster Recovery and business resumption. One fully recoverable version of all records must be stored in a secure, off-site location. Nominated Data Custodians, comprising internal staff and external IT Agency Support Staff are responsible for providing adequate backups to ensure the recovery of electronic information in the event of failure. These backup provisions will allow Galleon’s business processes to be resumed in a reasonable amount of time with minimal loss of data. In the event of telecommunications failure (i.e. phone land lines) incoming calls will be diverted to a nominated response number (BT response number or mobile), outgoing calls will be handled using the mobile phone network. In the event of the Galleon offices being inaccessible all business operations will be temporarily relocated to a nominated Site.

  • Environmental & Sustainability Policy

    Environmental & Sustainability Policy

In the UK there is significant legislation which governs the way that the Company operates and maintains our fleet of trucks, the emissions there from, and the way it deals with waste.  Further, legislation also prescribes the degree to which the Company must deal with the recycling of  our own waste and waste of clients.

The International (and Domestic) removals Industry by its very nature, has an environmental impact. The use of Road, Sea and Air transportation coupled with the requirement for protective packaging materials, all contribute towards the Industry’s ‘Carbon Footprint’.

In response, the Industry has willingly accepted and implemented a variety of UK and European Government -led legislation measures (e.g. fuel emission restrictions etc).  Galleon International is currently complying with EUR4 emissions and working towards ISO 14001

The Company has long been recognised as a forward thinking Organisation, and our approach has always been proactive rather than reactive. Galleon International, as part of our ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Accreditation Assessment Programs, not only complies with standard regulatory requirements, ensuring that all vehicles meet the required environmental Quality Standards, but also actively employs a number of other environmental initiatives including waste re-cycling and ethically sourced packaging materials.

We welcome the introduction of Environmental Legislation, and continually seek to identify new initiatives which will benefit both global and local communities.
